An Annual Talent Celebration of the Deepalaya
In a bid to encourage and provide an extraordinary platform for underprivileged children, Deepalaya, the largest operational NGO in Delhi-NCR, is organizing a one-of-its-kind mega talent-exhibition on March 18, 2017 at Mavalankar Auditorium, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. The annual event, Expressions 2018, will be true to its name, and will capture the numerous hues of the “EXPRESSION” showcased by the performers, or otherwise anyone associated with Deepalaya who has the courage and resolution to EXPRESS something meaningful.
As the D-Day approaches, our students who will be performing at this event are filled not only with a feeling of anxiousness and excitement to leave a mark in front of an audience of 600 people, but moreover they feel fortunate to get this kind of opportunity among their privileged peers.
As an organization, Deepalaya believes firmly in identifying and encouraging latent talent of those children who may be neglected and left without any care and support due to adverse socio-economic conditions.
All our schools and learning centers lay stress on all-round development of pupils, and they are given an opportunity to showcase their talents at different forums. The legacy of 39 years of working with the community has produced many gems and pearls from the dust; overcoming many obstacles in life, our children have not only excelled in academics, but also various co-curricular activities, competitions, and platforms. And the belief that Deepalayans are a talented lot inspire us to work constantly towards the vision of a society based on legitimate rights, equity, justice, honesty, social sensitivity.
On 18th March, the programme will start with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Prof. P J Kurien, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha will preside over the function. Shri Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. The welcome speech will be delivered by Shri A J Philip, Secretary and CE, Deeplaya. Choir performances, fusion dance, group dance, and skits and plays will be presented by students from more than 15 project locations of Deeplaya (spanning across UP, Haryana, and Delhi).
Oriflame India Pvt. Ltd. is a company that believes in giving back to the society, and has been supporting Deepalaya’s Girl Child development projects over the last 12 years. We are humbled and grateful to Oriflame for their support in giving wings to our children’s dreams, and hence it is our honour to have Oriflame as the presenting partner at Expressions 2018. Mrs. Anastasia Kamashin, Oriflame Ambassador, will be the Guest of Honour at the function.
Oriflame and Deepalaya had joined hands in 2006 to combine resources and make proper use of grassroot-level knowledge to bring the light of education to the lives of underprivleged. What started as a fledgling bond has today blossomed into something magical. Under their association with Deepalaya, Oriflame has sponsored education of over a thousand girls and will continue to extend helping hands for many noble causes and endeavors initiated by Deepalaya. Besides girl child education, Oriflame donated two buses, one each for Deepalaya School Gusbethi and Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension. They are also helping us in expanding Deepalaya Schhol in village Gusbethi in District Nuh, which is one of the most backward districts of Haryana.
